Excellent post Mat.

Your wireframe is a great framework for someone building a landing page. It lays out the content requirements in a sensible way and has classic usability principles applied to it.

There is a lot of discussion around the 5-second rule, the amount of time you have to communicate your message to visitors. Some say it's 8-seconds and some say 3. Regardless, it's a good point and as architects or designers we should always keep it in mind.

I did a post just on that topic recently if you fancy a read.

Hello Karen,

I get a lot of these offers and am open to learning more, I just have to say that quality is most important to me and helping my target audience (SMB) is most important to me (I don't do this for the money or to build a personal brand).

Hi,

I work for a web hosting site, which gives detailed information about different services and packages about hosting.

I came across your website : emarketingmatador.com. And I find it very relevant to my client's site.

I would like to have your co-operation, which I believe will help us to increase the productivity of both our sites.

If you are interested do get back to me. Awaiting for your positive reply.

Regards,
Karen

I recently wrote on this and offer a template layout that has worked wonders for my landing pages. It would be good “additional reading” after this excellent post. The biggest trick is to make it not look like an affiliate landing page…while keeping these tips in mind. when in doubt, I would say ignore the tips if they are preventing your site from seeming natural.

Great article! You give some very salient points on web design and implementation. One thing most people do not realize--when a website is launched, that is not the finish line. They cannot let up. Do it wrong quickly and keep tweaking and trying things out to optimize the site. Utilize social media to pull traffic. Ford is doing a good job of this now. http://www.fluid-studio.net/blog/2009/03/02/how-ford-motor-company-is-using-social-media/
