I think the same thing about Google, and I’m experiencing something similar with a User Testing service I use on line right now (although it turns out its still worth the price, I just hate when costs go up). All I can tell you is that UBL hasn’t increased prices in the last year and a half. Good point.

I want to use UBL to save myself a load of time but my concerns is they will begin increasing their renewal fees. You can’t beat the rate now but do we have any assurance they won’t hold us over a bucket later when they are threatening to remove all of our listings. Losing all of those listings suddenly would really hurt my SEO efforts I think. Like I said, I think?

Hi Mat,
Great list although I would advise business owners to take control of the major local listings (Google, Bing, Yahoo) and not rely on the UBL for those.

We have had much better success doing these manually for our clients. I believe that they like to see that the business owners are engaged so also recommended updating every few months. Just add or change a photo or video, something simple.

Please also consider seekitlocal.com for your list. Seek it Local is a local business directory that partners with television stations to offer free and paid local business listings in cities across the US. Consumers who visit seekitlocal.com will either be automatically redirected to the co-branded tv station Seek it Local website in their area, or when a co-branded website is not available they’ll see the national Seek it Local website with local business results.

That is funny! Sad, and likely hurting their business! It does not matter which software you have, as eventually the information gets shared between them and they all list a site as unsafe. Their site has either contracted a virus or more likely, they hare not practicing what your security software thinks they should. Either way, stay away for now. If you read the “About me” section, you’ll see I know a lot about this area.
